TROUBLESHOOTING

CONSUMABLES

Other than the paper, there are only two components that will need to be replaced in this printer.

A Yellow alert will be sent when the toner has 10% remaining.

  • At that time there are still about 3,000 pages remaining that can be printed with that toner.
  • Do NOT change the toner prior to 10%. We recommend waiting to less than 5% to avoid waste.

The fuser has a blue tab on the right.

  • The blue tab needs to stay in the forward position.
  • This tab should NOT be pushed back.

The printer can hold 2,500 sheets of paper.

  • Tray 1 (Top Tray) holds up to 500 sheets. Tray 2 (Bottom Tray) holds up to 2,000 sheets.
  • Do NOT overfill the trays.

TO PREVENT PAPER JAMS

  • Always fan the paper stack on all four sides prior to putting it in the tray. This can also remove excess paper dust.
  • Do not leave space between the paper, guides and rear stopper.
  • Do not overfill the paper tray (very important!)
  • Do not load damaged or warped paper.
  • Do not load paper of different sizes or types at the same time.
  • Do not pull the paper tray out during printing.
  • Do not store paper in a high humidity area.

If a paper jam occurs in the fuser rollers, push down on the blue tab to release pressure on the
rollers to remove the paper.

  • DO NOT pull paper out of rollers without releasing the tension.

If a sheet of paper is jammed, attempt to remove the paper gently in the direction it was going.

  • Do not yank the paper out forcefully.

TONER CARTRIDGE JAMMING

If constant jamming is occurring around the toner cartridge, open the printer hood by pulling up on the grey insert knob on the right side of printer (see below). The toner cartridge has a blue lever that should always be left in the up position. Push it down and back up several times and leave it in the down position, then pull toner cartridge out using the blue handle. Reseed in the printer and push the blue lever back in the top position.

FUSER ROLLER REPLACEMENT

The replacement fusers for the B731 High Capacity printer has an included maintenance kit.

When replacing the fuser, we recommend also replacing the fuser roller which is shown below:

To remove the fuser roller, remove the fuser then refer to the picture below which highlights the fuser roller in red while it is installed. The fuser roller is not locked and can just be removed by picking it up. To install the replacement fuser roller, place it back in the same location shown below in red:

LED HEAD

The LED Head is highlighted below in red with the red down arrow pointing towards the LED Head electrical ribbon. It can be accessed by removing the toner/drum unit.

Print quality issues can occur if toner builds up on the LED Head causing blank vertical sections and can be resolved by wiping the bottom of the LED Head with a soft cloth. However, if print quality issues persist, the LED Head electrical ribbon may need to be re-seated.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Turn printer OFF before proceeding with re-seating the electrical ribbon. If printer is ON, the printer can be permanently damaged. To turn OFF the printer, push the ON/OFF button on the front side of the printer located in the middle on the right as well as unplug the printer power cable.

To remove the LED Head, push up slightly on the left side (shown by the red arrow) until the silver notch is raised to the point shown below in orange. Then pull forward to clear the notch which will release the LED Head.
